Upper Blepharoplasty in Thailand
Upper Blepharoplasty is a popular cosmetic surgery technique to remove extra skin, fat, or muscle from drooping upper eyelids.
The upper eyelid incision is done in the natural crease line about 1 cm above the eyelashes. The incisions may extend into crow’s feet or laughter lines at the outer corners of your eyes. Your surgeon will make incisions to separate the skin and subcutaneous layers, remove extra fat, and trim sagging muscles and skin. The incisions will then be closed with extremely small stitches.
Duration of the operation:
Open Upper Blepharoplasty normally lasts 30 minutes to an hour.
Post-operative Care:
Following surgery, you should rest quietly with your head raised. Oral medicines will alleviate pain and discomfort. The doctor will prescribe antibiotics to avoid infection. Follow these instructions for a few days: clean your eyes properly, apply cold compresses to reduce swelling, use lubricating eye drops, elevate your head, avoid makeup, alcohol, television, and contact lenses. Limit your activity for a few days.
Recovery Stitches are removed around a week following surgery. Bruising and swelling will progressively lessen after the stitches are removed. Bruising normally resolves after 7-10 days. Sunglasses and sunscreen are essential for several weeks. Normal activities can be resumed after 10 days, while demanding tasks including lifting, bending, and exercise can take up to three weeks. Most patients return to work within 1-2 weeks.
Results: Improves vision by treating baggy skin, sinking upper eyelids, and drooping eyelashes.

Complications are infrequent, but any medical operation carries risks. Complications may include infection, hemorrhage (rarely leading to vision loss), prominent scars, asymmetry in healing or scarring, dryness, decreased sensation in the eyelid, difficulties shutting the eyes, anesthetic response, and blindness. To reduce risks, follow your plastic surgeon’s instructions before and after eyelid surgery.
Anesthesia use:
General anesthetic or local with sedation?Open Upper Blepharoplasty can be performed as an outpatient procedure or in a hospital setting using local or general anesthesia. You and your surgeon will discuss your desires.
Preparation for surgery:
During consultation, a medical history (including allergies, major medical conditions, and prescriptions) will be assessed, followed by a physical examination and laboratory tests.
Avoid smoking for 3-4 weeks before surgery since it can disrupt circulation and hinder healing.
To prepare for surgery, avoid consuming alcohol a week before and during the recovery time. Additionally, avoid using medications including hormones, anticoagulants, anabolic steroids, and supplements for at least 4-6 weeks to avoid any complications. Avoid using aspirin, anti-inflammatory medicines, and herbal supplements as they can cause more bleeding.
